Excited!!
« on: February 22, 2012, 08:25:30 PM »
So I picked up another cb750 project bike about a month ago... my current project is so close to done that it I can't contain myself.. however, I realized that all the decisions are pretty much made, so my mind was growing restless..

As i thought about what I needed to do to get this underway, I realized that alot of my current project was completed at my buddy's place, where he has all the necessary tools for chopping and fabricating a motorcycle... I have SOME of the stuff, but there are alot of things I don't have...

Or should I say... DIDN'T HAVE....

My girlfriend knows a guy that works at a pawn shop. We went in there and I bought the missing pieces of what I need.. Mitre Saw, Air Compressor, Sawzall and the king daddy --- a Lincoln 140c welder (that needs a few parts).. Total invested at the pawn shop $512... I went onto ebay and ordered the regulator and gas hoses for the welder ($72 shipped)..

Needless to say, I am EXCITED!!!!!!!

I have spent two days working on cleaning my garage out and reorganizing, so that I can keep it clean of dust, dirt and other potentially flamable materials... almost have it where I want it... My own "shop" of sorts!

Thanks for sharing in my excitement!

Congrats!  I know the feeling of how exciting having your own shop can be.  I found a 30x50 pole barn in town for $200 per month.  I have been spending the last 2 weeks cleaning out the shit to make way for my stuff.  I have historically only worked out of my little garage that I had to share with others and there was not enough room for all my stuff.  The 30x50 is really a little small but is it way better than what I did have.  I hauled out 5500+ pounds of trash to the dump at a cost of $170 plus about $75 in fuel.  I hauled out about 5000 pounds of scrap metal.  I hauled off 2 trailer loads of trees that needed removed and leaves to be cleaned up.  I spent $70 in plumbing fittings, hoses, and valves to fix the water leaks.  I had to buy a respirator (actually bought an Israeli gas mask) to breath while cleaning out the shop that was closed off 6 years ago.  Just today I started moving my stuff in and it feels awesome!  I have about one more trailer load of stuff to move out of the storage facility then a trailer load of tools from my dad's garage.

I have been looking for a shop for a while and I found one that was full of shit that needed to be cleaned out.  For my labor I am getting a few months free of rent and utilities + reimbursement of actual costs.

So, it turns out... My girlfriend is AWESOME!! I bought a truck today, with tax money.. was driving it home and she said "I will meet you there, I have some errands to run".. I didn't think anything of it...

She shows up to the house about 30 minutes later - with all of my tools in the back of the car. She went to the pawn shop and paid off the balance so I could have them...

I felt so loved!
